You couldn’t really be interested in the fact that I bought a pillow tonight. Or in the happy fact that I purchased said pillow on clearance, paying less than $30.00 for the king-sized down-filled item, including a set of 600 thread count pillowcases. (Full price for pillowcases and pillow would have been $75.00.)
Unfortunately, that is about the highlight of my day. The rest of time was allotted to cleaning up the kitchen, putting away the last of the stuff from Vacation Bible School, and sitting poolside for two hours while the kids swam in the deserted pool. (Overcast day today and no one was at the pool.) Oh, and answering email.
I was also working on a writing assignment (just sent it off into the wild blue yonder).Today, it’s boring to me be.
Tomorrow, it will be painful to be me as I’m having a tooth extracted. I fully expect to drool blood and otherwise venture to the brink of death because I am dramatic like that.
Tonight, I am eating popcorn because when will I be able to chew again?
Then, I will sleep peacefully on my king-sized pillow.
Oh! But I have to ask. Has anyone read Jodi Picoult’s Plain Truth? Because if you have, we must talk. I finished it on vacation. Before that, I read Cormac McCarthy’s The Road. Have you read that? Oh. My. What a book! (Did I already rave about it?) And after that, I read Girl, Interrupted. I’ve never seen the movie, but now I want to.
So, what are you reading? And, do you love your pillow or feel indifferent toward it?

I love my pillow. I have a migraine now and I strongly suspect its from sleeping without my pillow night before last. I let Peter use it and I tossed and turned all night resulting in a migraine.
My husband says I am just like the Princess in a Princess and a Pea when it comes to my own pillow. I take it everywhere with me. I have no idea what I would do if I left it behind.
I cant even imagine a new pillow! Wont it take ages to make it and shape it like the old one?

I read Plain Truth. Did you like it? I did, up until the end of the book. I don’t like how Jodi Piccoult likes to make all her endings be “surprises”. But I do love her characters and her storytelling ability.

I am currently reading (for the second time) “A Lotus Grows in the Mud” by Goldie Hawn. Very good autobiography. I just finished attempting to read Harry Potter, but I just don’t care for it. Much to my daughter’s chagrin. It looks like the highlight of my day will be cleaning (well it’s a self clean but I had to push the button) the oven. In fact, my eyes water as I type this. good luck tomorrow!

Wooo I’m a drama queen when it comes to anything involving my teeth. I am not reading anything I would consider amazing right now other than fictional “smut” by Danielle Steele…but I love them.
I did read the “Praying Woman” a few weeks ago and it is very good. The author’s name leaves me now…

No, I haven’t read that, but I LOVE the author–Nineteen Minutes, Picture Perfect and Tenth Circle are FABULOUS books. I’ll have to reserve this one at the library!
As for my pillow, I LOVE it. My husband bought it for me a few years ago for my birthday, and believe me, it wasn’t on my list of wants, but it turns out it’s a fabulous pillow!

I’m currently reading Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows; my reading for the past few weeks has been the first six books. After, I’m going to be working through some books about writing
I don’t take my pillow along, but my husband does, and we would be heading back to get it if we ever forgot it somewhere. I think I may start taking mine along on trips, though, because the last two trips I’ve taken I’ve ended up with a headache (probably because I was sleeping on different pillows).

I’m about 100 pages into three books: An Assault on Reason, a different book about the origins of the French language (which is awesome…if you’re a nerd like me and like that sort of thing), and the one I can’t put down, Peace Like a River. Woo, boy. That is some amazing writing! I get twinges of To Kill a Mockingbird (my favorite book) while I read it. Full review to come.

The Road! What an amazing book! I spent the week I was reading it totally paranoid everytime I had to walk on an open street. That’s when you know you’re living inside the prose. He is really a phenomenal writer.
Haven’t read any Picoult. Unfortunately, I have been having all my books pretty much chosen for me during my MFA studies. After I graduate in December, though, I’ll be free to read whatever I want….

I just read this post and previous comments. Stood up and marched right into the other room to tell my husband that I am now officially *Not The Only One*.
I love my pillow. And my husband also tells me I am Princess from the Princess & the Pea story. Funny thing is my 5yo daughter is the same way. Could it be genetic?
Reading – just finished the last Diana Gabaldon novel on vacation. One of those 4″ thick books that just love to wallow in. Very good if you like historical fiction, although this has a time traveller twist and pulled a mean trick on me by changing from a European setting to a Colonial American setting, which I could care less about. Reading a primer on medieval history now.

By the way – I went to my library website to look for some of these books. I am now #359 of 359 holds for the Jodi Picoult book. Seriously. Is it worth a half.com purchase?
I have heard a lot of comments on Peace Like A River too – but there are a few books with that title by different authors. Which one is it that everyone loves?

I have read “Nineteen Minutes” by Jodi Picoult – and I thought it was good. I’ll have to read “Plain Truth” next! Right now I am reading Harry Potter #6 so that I can read #7 someday….

As far as reading I did read 19 Minutes by Jodi Picoult – and really enjoyed it! Maybe I’ll read Plain Truth soon.
Of course, I finished the last Harry Potter book, because, well, I’m good like that.
Also read 1/2 Price Living – which might prove to be helpful.

I read Plain Truth and picked the ending out a little while before I got there. Still good though, like all her books.
Currently, I’ve just finished reading Magnus Mills – Restraint of Beasts which is a very odd book. I read HP7 over the weekend too.

I LOVE my pillow. The only time I don’t take it with me traveling is if I fly and don’t want to check baggage.
Read Plain Truth and loved it — but haven’t read anything else by Jodi P. and I’m not sure why. I just finished Elizabeth Berg’s “We Are All Welcome Here” –excellent, looking forward to reading more by her. Oh, and I read Water for Elephants, which I thoroughly enjoyed as well.

I realize I’m getting in on this post way late, but after you first posted this, I checked to see if my library had any Picoult, and they did, but everything was out on loan with multiple reserves, so I didn’t bother, then last week, while in the library I stumbled across The Pact and LOVED it. I’m now hooked. Today, I went back and stumbled across My sister’s keeper. Thanks for introducing me to a great author!
