Lost

This story (over at “Notes from the Trenches”) reminds me of the Christmas that my husband gave me a gift certificate for a massage.  I placed that white envelope in the windowsill until after the festivities.

After the festivities, my husband hurried all the wrappings and ribbons into the dumpster.

I never saw that envelope again.  He claims I lost it.  I know he threw it away.  The massage therapist refused to honor the gift–even though it was a small office and the person who sold the gift certificate clearly remembered my husband purchasing said certificate–and thus, I never got that massage.

And my husband still thinks I lost it and I still know he threw it away,

  1. That massage therapist didn’t want your business very badly did she? Doesn’t she know about customer loyalty? ’twere I, I’d never go back there. But if she had honored it? I’d be sending everyone I knew there.

    Her loss.

  2. Sorry about that. I have purchased my girls each a book store gift card for this Christmas and I can’t find them anywhere! I’m thinking either I hid them really well or the magazine I hid them in when I brought them home got read and recycled with the cards still in them. 40.00 G O N E…..

  3. That story reminds me of the time I was blow-drying my hair, when the thought popped into my head “I wonder my plane ticket is” said plane ticket being for a trip I wasn’t due to take for another two weeks – no reason for it to pop into my brain like that.

So, I started searching, and actually did find it – in the bottom of the kitchen garbage bag which was already in my apartment building’s dumpster (near the top, thankfully).

I’ve always credited my guardian angel with giving me that nudge.

Sorry about your massage – that’s the pits.

  4. Did you try threats of any kind on that massage therapist and her little receptionist? I think that would have made mad enough to kick some %&*@ but maybe that is just because I am a Redneck from Texas.
