Play Ball!

100_0434.jpg

Tuesday night, we took our twin boys to a Mariner’s game at Safeco Field.  I had fun for these reasons:

1)  The tickets were free.

2)  The kids are old enough (14!) to be set free to hunt and gather their own food (with the money I gave them).

3)  My husband was with me.

4)  Two women sitting behind me chatted the whole time.  (They went to high school together in Walla Walla.  One of them has a mother who uses a tanning bed, has fake nails, and never leaves the house without hairspray.)

5)  I love to eavesdrop.

The Mariner’s lost the game, but we had a great time.  (The boys love nothing better than to eat garlic fries at Safeco Field, followed by a giant soft pretzel with a cup of “nacho cheese”–I use that term loosely, as I’m pretty sure that’s not actually cheese.)

  1. A family night out is a blessing, especially since it came free of charge, which is probably good since you may have needed to take out a loan to pay for the food otherwise…

Glad you had a great time.

  2. LOL! Speaking of cheese that’s not really cheese. My kids keep asking me to get Easy cheese and crackers for dinner. I let them do that once a year ago, and they’ve been begging for it again ever since. Just the name “Easy Cheese” brings to mind horrible pictures.

  3. My son works for minor league team, but will he give his poor parents free tickets….. NOOOOOO. We did get tickets from a couple of the players though, enough for all 7 of us! We had a blast as well. But I can’t believe I paid 3 bucks for a bottle of water…..

  4. My kind of ball game! Oh, I sure do wish I could have been there with you. We haven’t been to a game yet – maybe when it gets a little warmer? Our A’s are doing pretty decent right now – so we really should get out there and do some rooting, eating garlic fries, and eating orange drippy stuff purporting to be cheese – YUM!

  5. Hey, I just went to a Dodger game! No drippy fake cheese, but I did share a Dodger dog, and had a bag of Cracker Jack. My son got blue cotton candy. I took a few bites, but I don’t really know why. And, I got to hear Jennifer Hudson sing the national anthem. I’m still amazed she was kicked-off American Idol. Yay for ball games.

  6. So you are one of those people who can tell everything about the people having a conversation next to them even if they are talking to somebody themselves? Me too. (And it drives my husband crazy. Knowing tons of facts about people I never even talked too…)

  7. Huh. Well, I’ll keep my eyes peeled for the lady over here with the tan, the fake nails and the hairspray. Sounds like I someone out of whose way I should stay. 😉

  8. I love that the women behind you went to high school in Walla Walla (go WaHigh!). I went to college in W2 and I have a deep and abiding fondness for the place.
